Making In-Office Appointments Safer with Valet Services

Making In-Office Appointments Safer with Valet Services

Even during a pandemic, there are still critical foot care services that require in-person treatment. At the same time, you understandably want to protect yourself and your family from COVID-19 exposure risks.

So, how can you get the care you need AND keep everyone safe?

Wilks Advanced Foot Care has the answer:

Valet medical service appointments.

Put simply, this is a safer way of getting the care you need, while also minimizing exposure to others. On top of that, we have ramped up our already stringent standards of screening and cleanliness, with the goal of creating as safe an environment as possible for both our patients and our staff.

Valet medical service – keeping you and your family safe at in-person appointments

What is a valet medical service?

Essentially, we are referring to measures our team is taking to minimize your time spent in our office and around others, while also screening for anyone who may be at a higher risk of COVID-19 infection.

At our practice, these measures include:

  • Escorting you straight from your car to your exam room. Our lobby is currently closed to reduce transmission risk. When you arrive, please wait in your car and call us from the parking lot. When we have prepared a private exam room for you, a member of our staff will come out and take you directly to it.
  • Screening arrivals. Before coming into the office, we will take your temperature and ask if you have experienced any symptoms. If you exhibit any signs of infection, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.
  • Providing low-exposure options for new patient registration. We must still register you if you are a new patient. We can bring the forms out to your car, or mail forms to you in advance should you not live near the office. Forms can be requested in advance before the date of your appointment, or filled out right before you come in.
  • Allowing as few people into the office as reasonable. Only the subject of the appointment will be allowed in, whenever possible. We will of course exempt parents of minors or others needed to provide assistance, but will only allow the minimum needed number (e.g. one parent or guardian only).
  • Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms between patients. And we are spacing appointments far enough apart to provide our staff enough time to do so well.

Who should use this service?

Valet services are a great choice for patients who:

  • Have urgent needs that should be addressed promptly. Examples include pain, possibility of infection, or anything that is impeding one’s ability to get through the day.
  • Are considered “high risk” for COVID-19 or any other severe infectious diseases that could pose special health risks—or live with someone who is.

We have already been contacting some patients to reschedule non-urgent surgical procedures and other types of appointments. If you are not certain whether your needs should be addressed via an in-office appointment at this time, please do not hesitate to call us and ask!

If you are currently exhibiting any symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment. Additionally, anyone who has recently engaged in international travel must also let us know, and may also have to reschedule to a later date.

What if I do not have an appointment?

If you have an urgent need, please call us in advance if possible, but still come to our office. Remain in your car and call us upon your arrival to explain the situation. A member of our staff will come out to assess you.
